Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga can simply be described as a grounding form of yoga. While “Yang” is focused more on strength and muscular stretching, “Yin” has a focus on the deeper, connective tissues and joints. A few benefits of yin yoga include an increase in flexibility and range of motion, release of anxiety and stress and stillness or calming of the body & mind. A typical Yin practice will only have 8-10 exercises each being held anywhere from 3-5 minutes. Yin encourages the use of props, be they blocks, blankets or bolsters helping support the body as it deepens into the pose at its own timing.
