Dear YMCA family,
As you know, it was necessary for us to close on Monday, March 16th to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community. It was our hope to welcome you back in early April. However, the Safer at Home order issued by Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers last week requires that we remain closed until Friday, April 24, unless a new order is issued in the interim. This is unfortunate news but given the rising number of active cases in our state, it is an important step to protect the health and safety of everyone. Your health and safety are our utmost concern.
As a Y member, you are part of a non-profit, impact-driven community service organization that is playing a leadership role in keeping people healthy, slowing the spread of COVID-19, and will provide critical need services to our community once we reopen. In the meantime, our staff is connecting with members, kids and their families:
- Our entire staff are calling and checking in with our senior members, making sure they are safe, connected, not feeling isolated and are offering suggestions for keeping active in the safety and comfort of their homes.
- Our preschool staff are continuing to educate our 4k students by doing zoom meetings and dropping off educational goodie bags at their homes.
- Our fitness staff are doing workout videos and posting them on our YouTube channel so our whole community can workout from home.
Several of you have asked about how your membership will be handled while the Y must be closed. We understand that this might be a financially challenging time for some of you, and you can certainly request that your membership be placed on hold and be started again when we’re allowed to re-open. If you have any questions regarding your membership you can call the YMCA at 608-325-2003. Please leave your name and number and we will call you back within 24 hours. You can also email Amanda Meighan at email@example.com. To put your membership on hold for the month of April, please call or email us by April 18th.
We’re asking you, if you can, to please stay with us and continue your membership. We need you alongside us through these unparalleled circumstances so that we can continue to do our part to provide needed community services. We can’t do it without you. Your support now, will give us the ability to reopen once we’re able to.
As an added member benefit, we are continuing to develop our online presence. We hope seeing familiar faces will enhance the enjoyment of your Safer at Home workouts and bring a little of the Y to your daily routines. You will also continue to have access to Y360, our national virtual fitness resource and our members-only content with MOSSA, original content on our YouTube page.
Thank you for being such an important part of our Y family. PLEASE STAY WITH US and I look forward to seeing all of you soon! Stay safe!
