Aquatics Center

Pictured here is the Aquatics Center at Southwood County YMCA. While the addition of a warm water recreation pool is not part of Phase One, a number of renovations will be made to our existing pool. We are also actively pursuing additional funding sources to build the warm water recreation pool in a later phase.

COMMUNITY NEED

Swimming pools offer a means of social interaction, relaxation, and stress relief. They provide an opportunity for low-impact, aerobic exercise, and help increase water safety within the community. With only one indoor pool for all of Green County, the high demand makes it difficult to accommodate the diverse range of the county’s aquatic needs.

ENHANCING SAFETY & FAMILY RECREATION

The YMCA is a vital community asset for delivering swim lessons and water safety education. Swim lessons and classes aren’t just great for exercise, they also build life skills and offer the opportunity for kids and families to bond in a safe environment. The addition of a warm water family recreation pool will significantly increase our capacity in the total number of adults, children, and families we are able to serve.
