The current campaign goal for the project is $25 million. The challenge presented by the Colony Brands Foundation is if the YMCA can raise $10 million for the building campaign, the Foundation would donate $15 million toward the building campaign and an additional $5 million to the Green County Family YMCA Foundation.

The expansion and renovation project costs approximately $25 million and includes 60,000 additional square feet of programmatic space.

The added childcare facility has been designed to serve up to 86 children, ages 6 weeks old and up. 5 state-of-the-art classrooms are designed to meet specific ages of a child’s development. 2 of the 4 rooms in the Youth Development Center are being built to also accommodate 4K classes.

Extensive market research was conducted in December 2021 that targeted each of the different user groups of our facility. (For example, pool users, fitness center users, preschool parents, etc.) A summary of the Market Research is available on our capital campaign website at: greencountyymca.org/stronger. Additional areas of our facility which are not visible to the public need maintenance, repair, and improvement. (For example, the roof and certain mechanicals.)

Given the rising costs of construction, tough decisions had to be made in order to hone in on a $25 million goal. While the addition of a warm water recreation pool will not be part of Phase One, a number of renovations will be made to our existing pool. We are also actively pursuing additional funding sources to build the warm water recreation pool in a later phase.

Yes, there is a list available with opportunities ranging from naming rights for the entire facility to individual rooms. Please contact Trent Henning, Executive Director, for additional information.

Gifts to the capital campaign may be made in one lump sum or spread out over a period, not to exceed 5 years.

YMCA’s that have undertaken this type of renovation/expansion have realized a 15% to 30% increase in membership. It is anticipated we will realize a gain of 500-1,000 new members when the renovated facility is operational.

The Green County Family YMCA has undertaken the capital effort to: increase group fitness program space, including the Wellness Center and Community Room spaces, improve accessibility, universal locker room, sauna, provide additional social/lobby space, and the addition of a community kitchen. Dedicated licensed childcare and youth development center spaces will provide programming space for youth as we work to address childcare shortages.

Throughout the planning and development of this project, a huge emphasis has been placed on sustainability, ensuring our YMCA is able to serve this community for generations to come.

The Green County Family YMCA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and does not receive any financial support through tax revenue.

We are not projected to increase our membership or program fees as a result of the addition of new and remodeled spaces. We will continue to review membership rates annually and make modest adjustments each year to our rates and fees.

In a perfect world, the YMCA and every other non-profit organization would fully fund depreciation on an annual basis. While fully funding depreciation may be an unattainable goal, a major focus of our recent strategic plan was to eliminate debt and build a cash reserve that is able to handle the expected major facility maintenance needs.

The importance of partnerships and collaborations cannot be overstated. In any given year, the Green County Family YMCA has about 25 different partnerships and collaborations. We have deep and important partnerships with Colony Brands, SSM Health Monroe Hospital & Clinic, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Avenues Counseling, our local school districts, police and fire departments, Jacob’s SWAG, MultiCultural Outreach Program, in addition to many more. The Green County Family YMCA has always believed that each of our community partners provides a thread of service and by working together we create a rich fabric that strengthens the community.

Yes! We believe that we are stronger together. If you have a potential partnership in mind, please contact Luke Smetters, Membership & Community Engagement Director.

The last addition for programmatic space was nearly 20 years ago. The existing cardio room was constructed in 2004 and improvements to our lobby were made in 2007. All regular maintenance and facility improvements have been completed through the regular budgeting process.

Every day, the Green County Family YMCA engages and connects people in our community. We are dedicated to building healthy, confident, and secure children, adults, families, and communities. Our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child, and when a community comes together for the common good. The astounding fact that the Green County Family YMCA has 3,600 members in a county of 36,000 speaks for itself. At the Y, welcoming all without regard to financial ability, is the core of our work. We are proud our Y is able to reach over 300 members through our financial assistance program. With more than 85 part-time and full-time employees, our YMCA is one of the top employers in the county and has a significant financial impact in the community. Many of our programs, from summer camp to SilverSneakers, are here to serve the general community.

We are currently working with our architects to design the donor wall and recommendation a location.

Much of the building expansion will be located to the north. We are in conversation with both the Monroe School District and the Park and Recreation Department to determine a suitable location for Blaze Football Games. We are confident we will still have sufficient green space to the far northeast of our property for practices and other outdoor youth programming.

No. The majority of the project involves new construction and should not affect our existing facility. When it comes time to renovate certain areas of our existing facility, we plan to do so in a manner that creates as minimal disruption for our members as possible.

  • Groundbreaking is slated for April 2024.
  • Construction will last approximately 12-13 months.
  • Expanded facilities are expected to open Spring 2025.
